Howdy I am so happy I found your site, I really found you by mistake, while I
was researching on Digg for something else, Anyways

Not sure it makes me feel that much better but I prefer to write in a similar manner. It’s hard, though, when my advisor wants an early draft and for me it’s either bullet points or pretty much “done.” I’m working to break myself of that habit and learn to do more prewriting to help organize my ideas. I block one hour to write each day and tell myself “just write one paragraph” Because I need to be more productive I’ve tried http://www.750words.com – a free (until May but members are grandfathered in) journaling site that tracks your daily productivity. It’s helping me figure out how long it takes to write that many words.

Good post, Mike. I’m working on not ‘editing’ along the way. My problem is just like hearing my voice on tape I also hate reading my own writing. Ha. I like your proposed method. I have joined a ‘scholarly productivity’ group. Starting tomorrow it will be my first week with the group so we’ll see how I do.
